Quick Ways to Refresh Your Space for the New Year
As the new year approaches, we often see people wanting to freshen up and invite some change to their space.
It can be easy to get stuck in the planning phase and lose motivation for home projects. It may take longer than expected, you don't know where to start, and/or you're not sure how much to change. Your home CAN feel new and refreshed without a lot of work or expense.
We're sharing some of our tried and true tips and tricks to freshening up your space on a budget!
Update Soft Furnishings (Pillows, Throws, Rugs, Curtains)
- Add and/or swap out throw pillows and blankets for a cozy and new feel.
- Switch up curtains or blinds. You don’t need expensive designer fabrics—simple linen or cotton curtains can add an airy, fresh vibe.
- A new rug can anchor a space and add a touch of color or pattern without breaking the bank.
Repurpose and Rearrange Furniture
- Moving furniture around and playing with layout can breathe new life into a room. Consider creating a better flow or maximizing space differently.
- Look for ways to repurpose items you already own. Move around items into different rooms and play with using furniture in a way you haven’t before (i.e.: a small stool as a stand for a plant).
Add Greenery
Real or faux plants are a great way to add life and color to a space. You can find affordable plants at local stores or if you are not the best green thumb, look for some faux plants.
Declutter and Organize
- Clearing out unnecessary items can make your home feel fresher and more spacious. Go through each room and get rid of things you no longer need or use.
- Use baskets, trays, or open shelving to organize belongings in a stylish and accessible way.
Lighting and Hardware Upgrade
- Lighting has a huge impact on a room’s mood. Replace outdated or mismatched light fixtures with budget-friendly options from home improvement stores.
- Swap out cabinet pulls, knobs, and handles for a fresh look on kitchen or bathroom cabinets.
